Nebraska Pioneers Green Energy Initiative by Converting Methane Into Renewable Natural Gas
Lincoln, Nebraska, is making significant strides in both environmental sustainability and economic growth with an innovative project to convert harmful methane gas into renewable natural gas (RNG).
This collaboration with Sparq Renewables is an essential part of the city’s landfill operations overhaul, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and bring substantial economic benefits, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Vision RNG Announces 25 Year Gas Agreement with Greenwood County South Carolina Landfill
Vision RNG has announced a long-term gas rights agreement to purchase raw landfill gas (LFG) from the Greenwood County South Carolina landfill located in Greenwood South Carolina. The agreement could be as long as 25 years. A natural byproduct of decomposing landfill waste, LFG is typically collected and flared to burn off the methane it contains as required by regulators. However, collecting and converting the methane present in LFG into a cleaner, renewable fuel is intended to serve as a solution to reduce the need for combustion of new fossil fuels.
Chevron and CalBio Complete RNG Facility for Biomethane Fuel Project
CalBioGas Hilmar LLC, a joint investment between Chevron USA Inc., a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation and California Bioenergy LLC (CalBio), Visalia, California, have announced they have completed the central processing facility for a dairy biomethane project in Merced County, California.
CalBio technology helps local dairy farmers capture methane from dairy manure in anaerobic digesters on their farms. As part of the joint investment, after the methane is captured, it is sent to the central processing facility where it is upgraded into renewable natural gas (RNG). The renewable natural gas is then injected into the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) pipeline where it is marketed as an alternative fuel for transportation.
Clean Energy & Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts Open Expanded Renewable Natural Gas Station in Carson
Clean Energy announced the opening of a newly expanded renewable natural gas (RNG) fueling station in the City of Carson. Designed, constructed and operated by Clean Energy, this station is owned by Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (Districts) and will provide clean RNG fuel to the public as well as Districts’ vehicles, local public transit buses, waste haulers and medium to heavy-duty trucks.
Waga Energy Launches New Project in Quebec
Waga Energy and the RMR, owner and operator of the Hébertville-Station landfill serving 50 municipalities in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region and the Mashteuiatsh community, are partnering to launch an RNG production project.
As part of the project, Waga Energy will construct and operate a purification unit, using its patented WAGABOX® technology, to convert landfill gas into RNG, a renewable substitute for fossil-based natural gas. The facility is expected to produce up to 55 GWh of RNG per year (188, 000 MMBtu) —enough to meet the energy needs of 2,280 households. By avoiding the release of roughly 10,000 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent annually, the project will help reduce the region’s carbon footprint and advance Québec’s climate goals.
Newsom Defends Air Board’s Decision To Tighten Fuel Standards During Visit to Fresno
Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday defended a recent controversial decision by the California Air Resources Board to tighten a carbon-reduction rule, telling reporters in Fresno that blame for gasoline price increases rests with oil companies.
Vision RNG, Waste Connections To Accelerate RNG Uptake
Vision RNG has signed a 20-year renewable natural gas (RNG) agreement with L.P. Gill, Inc., a subsidiary of Waste Connections to support the development of the alternative fuel.
The Jackson, Nebraska, project will initially convert 1,200 cubic feet per minute of landfill gas into 310,000 MMBtu of RNG annually, with production expected to grow over the life of the contract. The RNG will be injected into a nearby pipeline and used across the U.S. for transportation fuel and other sustainable applications.
Ukraine To Build Two More Powerful Biomethane Plants
Vitagro group is planning to build two additional biomethane plants with a combined capacity of 8 million cubic meters of this natural gas substitute per year, the company's owner, Serhii Labaziuk, said in an interview with LIGA media outlet.
Vitagro Group is a successful agro-industrial holding, operating in agriculture, energy, processing, construction, and chemical industries. The company manages around 90,000 hectares of land and is involved in livestock, horticulture, renewable energy, fertilizer production, animal feed manufacturing, and construction materials.
Waga Energy Signs Partnership Agreement With Technology Provider
Waga Energy, a France-based landfill gas-to-energy technology and operations management provider, says it has signed a partnership agreement with Fives, also based in France, whose cryogenics-based technology it uses within its Wagabox units.
Calling Fives “an international leader in industrial engineering,” Waga says the new agreement “strengthens the long-term cooperation between Waga Energy and Fives, enabling both partners to optimize the design and manufacture of Wagabox units.”
Divert and PG&E Announce First-of-its-Kind Interconnection in California to Address the Wasted Food Crisis
Divert, Inc., an impact technology company on a mission to Protect the Value of Food™, and Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today announced a first-of-its-kind interconnection in the state of California to address the wasted food crisis. Divert’s facility in Turlock, California is now processing unsold food products into carbon-negative renewable energy, which is being injected into PG&E’s natural gas transmission line.
