GreenGas USA Partnership To Activate RNG Production Across Farm Portfolio
GreenGasUSA and Wayne-Sanderson Farms have announced a collaboration to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) at a portfolio of Wayne-Sanderson Farms facilities across the US.
They will do so by leveraging existing wastewater treatment and biogas assets to bring pipeline quality RNG to market.
Archaea Energy and Waste Connections Celebrate Opening of Renewable Gas Plant in Pennsylvania
Archaea Energy and Waste Connections, Inc. celebrate the opening of their first renewable natural gas (RNG) plant in Pennsylvania. The plant is adjacent to the Bethlehem Landfill in Lower Saucon Township owned by a Waste Connections subsidiary and came online in July.
“We are safely and efficiently scaling up at pace and building momentum with this new plant in Bethlehem,” Archaea Energy CEO Starlee Sykes said. “Archaea has brought six plants online to date in 2024, and we're proud to continue to bring our commitment to capture landfill emissions and provide customers with lower-emission, lower-carbon fuel to the Keystone State."
Pioneering Paths: How Gas Utilities Are Shaping the Energy Transition Through Renewable Initiatives
Natural gas utilities and pipeline companies find themselves at a crossroads in an era of energy transition. Faced with the immense challenge of decarbonization, they are not merely passive spectators but active navigators, responding with agility to the expectations of regulators, shareholders, and communities. Their journey is marked by complexity and urgency, with both short-term and long-term implications for the industry.
Florida Expands RNG Infrastructure
The Florida Public Service Commission has approved three projects that expand natural gas infrastructure to benefit customers of Florida City Gas (FCG), a subsidiary of Chesapeake Utilities. The projects, located in Florida’s Brevard, Indian River, and Miami-Dade counties, will bring renewable natural gas (RNG) produced from local landfills into FCG’s natural gas distribution system. Benefits of these projects include increased gas supply to serve expected FCG growth, strengthened system reliability, and additional system flexibility. The projects represent a combined capital investment of US$46 million and are estimated to be completed in the first half of 2025.
“These renewable natural gas infrastructure projects further demonstrate Chesapeake Utilities’ commitment to both growth and sustainability. These projects use methane that would otherwise escape into the environment and allow this renewable, locally sourced gas to be transported into our system for the beneficial use of our customers,” said Kevin Webber, senior vice president and chief development officer. “They highlight our ability to meet customer demand by leveraging our transmission and distribution systems to safely and reliably deliver renewable natural gas into growing markets.”
German Firm Looks to Export Low-Carbon U.S. LNG Backed by RNG Production
German biofuels producer Verbio SE is seeking to export renewable natural gas (RNG) from the United States as it looks to expand its North American production and partnerships with Gulf Coast LNG exporters.
Waste Management To Invest Over $56 Million in Renewable Natural Gas Facility in Lee County
