Verdalia Bioenergy Closes €671M Landmark Corporate Financing to Accelerate Biomethane Portfolio Across Spain and Italy
Verdalia Bioenergy today announced the closing of a landmark €671 million corporate financing, the first and largest of its kind in the European biomethane sector. The transaction will support the company’s investment plan to build and operate a portfolio of projects across Spain and Italy with an aggregate production capacity in excess of 3 TWh per year – equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly one million households. The total capital to be deployed in the portfolio will exceed €1 billion.

Waga Energy Commissions Renewable Natural Gas Facility at Iowa Landfill
Waga Energy, a France-based environmental services company that specializes in converting landfill gas-to-renewable natural gas (RNG), commissioned a RNG production facility at the Scott Area Landfill in Davenport, Iowa.
The RNG site will use Waga’s patented Wagabox technology, which is designed to upgrade landfill gas into pipeline compliant RNG injected directly into the MidAmerican Energy pipeline.
Anaergia S.r.l. to Supply Technology Package for Upgrading Società Agricola Zilio’s Anaerobic Digestion Facility in Veneto, Italy
Anaergia Inc. (“Anaergia”, the “Company”, “us”, or “our”) (TSX:ANRG; OTCQX:ANRGF), through its subsidiary, Anaergia S.r.l has entered into a contractual agreement with Società Agricola Zilio to repower its existing anaerobic digestion facility, located in Veneto, Italy, that was built by Anaergia in 2011.
Tesco Drives Emissions Reduction as It Rolls Out 42 Low-Carbon Trucks
British grocer Tesco has announced it has added 42 new IVECO S-Way Natural Gas trucks to its fleet in Livingston, Scotland, to help it reach its goal to be carbon neutral across its own operations by 2035. The trucks will transport food and goods across Scotland, Cumbria, and Northumbria, servicing more than 250 stores. Covering more than 200,000km per year, the trucks will save up to 6,4731 tonnes of CO2e annually.
Aemetis, Inc. Announces E15 Ethanol Blend Approval in California Following Governor Newsom's Signing of Assembly Bill 30
Aemetis, Inc. announced that California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 30, allowing a 15% ethanol blend (E15) in gasoline, which will expand the market for ethanol in California by 50%. A study suggests this change could save consumers approximately $2.7 billion annually, translating to a savings of about 20 cents per gallon. Aemetis CEO Eric McAfee praised the initiative for promoting lower gasoline costs and aiding environmental goals, while RFA President Geoff Cooper highlighted the benefits of E15 seen in other states, including cleaner air and enhanced engine performance. Aemetis operates a significant ethanol production facility in California and is making further investments to boost clean fuel production and reduce emissions, including a $30 million upgrade expected to significantly lower production costs.

The Albanese Government has announced Australia’s new 2035 climate targets and Net Zero Plan, committing to reduce emissions by 62-70% below 2005 levels. Bioenergy Australia welcomes the targets and Net Zero Plan, both of which showcase the government’s decarbonization priorities and include a focus on expanding clean fuels use - positioning renewable gas, low-carbon liquid fuels, and biomethane as key drivers in the nation’s energy transition. The target is ambitious and achievable - provided strong delivery and sector-wide action match the ambition.

EU Methane Regulation Makes Gas Imports to Europe More Difficult
Is Europe decoupling itself from global trade with the EU methane regulation? This question was discussed by moderator Heiko Lohmann at the 'Handelsblatt Annual Gas Conference' together with Gunnar Steck from the industry association Eurogas and Gregor Pett from the German importer Uniper. The EU regulation has been in force since August. It is therefore directly applicable law and is causing a lot of uncertainty in Germany.
