Gevo and Axens Boost SAF with Innovative Ethanol-to-Jet Technology
Gevo and Axens are joining forces to speed up the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) using the ethanol-to-jet (ETJ) pathway. This partnership aims to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and lower risks by leveraging Axens’ Jetanol™ technology.
They are also enhancing Gevo’s patented ethanol-to-olefins (ETO) technology. This technology converts ethanol into light olefins, which are key ingredients for fuels and chemicals.
Aemetis : Ethanol Plant Passes $2 Billion Revenues Milestone; Expects $40 Million Annually From Energy Efficiency Project
Aemetis, Inc., a renewable natural gas and renewable fuels company operating in the U.S. and India, today announced that cumulative revenues generated by the Aemetis ethanol plant in California passed the $2 billion milestone. The company also expects improved cash flows from the Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) energy efficiency project that is scheduled to be operational in the first half of 2026.
Located near Modesto, California, the Aemetis Keyes 65 million gallon per year capacity ethanol plant has been operating since 2011, delivering more than 768 million gallons of ethanol ($1.6 billion revenues) to the California market and 5.2 million tons of wet distillers grain ($400 million revenues) that has fed more than 100,000 dairy cows at about 80 dairies a lower cost, high value animal feed.

Kanadevia Inova To Build More Installations Enhancing Circularity in Denmark
Skanderborg-based Bigadan A/S (short for Biogas Danmark) and Kanadevia Inova AG (formerly Hitachi Zosen Inova) are extending their collaboration with the ongoing development of more biogas plants in Denmark.
Bigadan, is a leading contractor who deliver and operate several biogas projects and plants in Denmark. One important facility, located in Kalundborg in the northwest of the island of Zealand, converts biogenic waste residues from the production of insulin and enzymes into approximately 28 million Nm³ of biogas per year, which is then upgraded to biomethane.
Ukraine Started Exporting Biomethane to the EU
The Energy Customs of Ukraine issued a periodic customs declaration for the first batch of biomethane to be exported to Europe by pipeline, announced the authority on Facebook.
It became possible after two years of work and cooperation of several stakeholders, including the Parliament, the Ministry of Finance, the customs authorities, the gas transmission system operator, the gas storage operator and biomethane producers.
PCL, Stantec Selected for $121 Million San Francisco Biogas Build
Edmonton, Alberta-based construction firm PCL Construction and engineering company Stantec have won a $121 million fixed price design-build contract for the Southeast Treatment Plant Biogas Utilization Project in San Francisco, according to a Jan. 23 news release from PCL.
PCL, whose U.S. headquarters are in Denver, expects to complete construction of the project in early 2027, per the release. Stantec, also based in Edmonton, is acting as lead designer on the build, and is underway with the full-scale design of the facility.

EnviTec Biogas Expands RNG Segment For Carbon-Neutral Fuel Production
Climate neutrality in the transport sector is possible in the form of bio-LNG. The all-rounder RNG acts as a carbon-neutral fuel alternative that can help reduce emissions, especially in the heavy-duty transport sector. EnviTec Biogas produces RNG suitable for use as fuel for precisely this market at its own plants, including those in Güstrow, Forst, and Friedland.
Ireland’s Reliance on Natural Gas Drives Urgency for Transition to Renewable Gases
The recent cold snap served as a reminder of Ireland’s continuing dependence on gas for its energy requirements. An all-time record for gas demand was set on January 8th, less than a month after the previous record had been set on December 13th.
“What came through in the cold spell was the crucial role played by the gas network,” says David Kelly, director of customer and business development with Gas Networks Ireland. “It’s easily forgotten about because it is underground and out of sight; people don’t realise how important it is for electricity generation.
